Special events for the Ruffy community by the Tablelands community centre - Start your whittling journey with professional wood carving guidance. Join Shlomit in her creative workshop for hands-on experience.
Enjoy a relaxed day, chipping around in a circle, learning a new skill that you could later take anywhere with minimal tools– it's the kind of craft you can enjoy on your porch, near the campfire or even in your dining room table as you create small charming wonders.
In this class we will:
* Learn the basics of whittling.
* Talk about wood, grain and how to work with them.
* Experience the tools and the different cuts.
* Create a small figurine (or two) from start to finish – from the design stage and all the way to sanding, oiling and painting (if you wish).
Whittling embraces simplicity and allows your mind to focus on the present time, a wonderful way to unwind from the week and life challenges.
No previous experience is needed for this class- you will be guided every step of the way. If you are experienced, I can help you design and tackle more complex carvings.
You will be provided with: Wood, tools and safety gloves.
As well as tea, coffee and refreshments.
Please bring: Lunch, your tools (optional), and please wear closed shoes. If you have physical challenges, please let me know and I will try to find a way to accommodate your needs. There is wheelchair access.
The class is limited to 8 people, so please book your place in advance.
